Puente del Paso Honroso

Puente del Paso Honroso

Medieval stone bridge spanning the Río Órbigo between Puente de Órbigo and Hospital de Órbigo. Dating mainly from the 13th century, it has 19 arches today.

Best known for the Paso Honroso ('honourable passage') of 1434, when the knight Suero de Quiñones and his nine companions held a month-long series of jousts near the bridge. Suero challenged passing knights as part of a vow made in honour of his beloved, Leonor de Tovar.
