A Ramallosa is centred on the medieval crossing of the Rio Miñor, where the Ponte da Ramallosa marks the boundary between the municipalities of Baiona and Nigrán. Immediately downstream begins the Foz do Miñor, a protected tidal marsh used by migratory birds.

Ponte da Ramallosa
Built in the first half of the 13th century, the Ponte da Ramallosa has ten arches showing the transition from rounded Romanesque forms to pointed Gothic ones. At its centre, a cross depicting San Telmo stands above a peto de ánimas (shrine for souls in purgatory).
The bridge was also the setting for a traditional bautismo anticipado (prenatal baptism), a fertility rite intended to protect a pregnancy. After midnight, the first man to cross the bridge was asked to pour water from the river over the pregnant woman's belly and later become the child's godfather.
