Molinaseca is documented in 1097 as Molina Sicca. The name is commonly interpreted as "dry mills", referring to the several mills that stood on the Río Meruelo and may sometimes have been left without water as its course shifted.

Puente de los Peregrinos
The Puente de los Peregrinos crosses the Río Meruelo on seven arches. According to local tradition it may stand on Roman foundations, but the present structure reflects later rebuilding: the first three arches belong to an older bridge, while the remaining four were added after the river changed course and part of the earlier crossing became buried.
