Molinaseca is recorded in 1168 as Molina sica, a name interpreted as "dry mill" and associated with mills on the Río Meruelo that were sometimes left without water when the river changed course.

Puente de los Peregrinos

Puente de los Peregrinos

The Puente de los Peregrinos crosses the Río Meruelo on seven arches. According to local tradition it may stand on Roman foundations, but the present structure reflects later rebuilding: the first three arches belong to an older bridge, while the remaining four were added after the river changed course and part of the earlier crossing became buried.
