San Marcos

Just after San Marcos, you will arrive at Monte do Gozo. In the Middle Ages, it wasn't taken for granted that all pilgrims who set out for Santiago de Compostela would always make it alive. Monte do Gozo, the 'Hill of Joy' is the hill on the outskirts of Santiago where pilgrims could catch a glimpse of the towers of the cathedral for the first time.
