San Marcos

Monte do Gozo ("Hill of Joy") takes its name from the joy of pilgrims who traditionally caught their first glimpse of the towers of Santiago Cathedral from here. A medieval pilgrim tradition proclaimed the first member of a group to reach the summit "king of the pilgrimage". At the viewpoint, the 1993 bronze sculpture A chegada ("The Arrival") depicts two pilgrims pointing towards Santiago.
