Acebo

El Acebo marks the descent into El Bierzo, a mountainous region with a milder, wetter climate, vineyards and widespread use of slate in traditional buildings. In the Middle Ages, the village received royal privileges in return for maintaining 800 wooden stakes along the route towards Foncebadón, helping pilgrims find their way when snow covered the Camino.
